Odd Down is a suburb of the city of Bath, located west and south of the city centre. The population taken at the 2021 census was 7,300. It has a long history, including the quarrying of Bath stone, from Roman times through to the 20th century, and the 5th century Wansdyke defensive earthwork. The area is on two major travelling routes into Bath and so had three inns dating from the late 17th and early 18th centuries, two of which still survive - the Cross Keys and the Red Lion. There is industrial heritage, including quarries, the Cross Manufacturing engineering works and the old Clarks shoe factory. There was also a large workhouse during the 19th and early 20th centuries, which is now St Martin's Hospital. There are three churches - St Philips and St James, the United Reformed Church and the Salvation Army - and four schools - St Gregory's Catholic College, St Philips, St Martin's Garden and Three Ways.
